FAQs & Resources

Who do you work with?

I work with anyone who is motivated to start feeling better about their lives and relationships. My clients are teens, adults, and couples in the Yampa Valley and throughout Colorado who struggle with developing and maintaining healthy relationships.

My clients are often self-critical with people-pleasing tendencies and have incredible intuitions when something “isn’t quite right.” They may have a better read on other people’s wants and needs than they do themselves!

What can I expect from the initial consultation?

The 15 minute consultation is a time for both of us to see if we are a good therapeutic fit. It is a time for you to ask any specific questions you have for me.

How it works: I will call you at the time we have scheduled. We’ll talk about what you are seeking from therapy. I’ll ask you some questions to make sure that you’re getting help from the right place. If it feels like a good fit for both of us, we’ll move forward and schedule from there.

How do I know if you’re a good fit for me?

It really comes down to feeling and expertise. There is an intangible “click” that happens when you find the right therapist. You feel truly seen. You feel like you can finally breathe. Part of this comes from personality connection, and part of this comes from knowing that you can trust the expertise of your therapist. You’ll know if I’m a good fit by the way you feel and by ensuring my trained specialty aligns with your needs.

The research shows that “fitting” with a therapist is the biggest indicator for if therapy works for you. It is crucial for me to make sure you are in the right place. If I believe that I wouldn’t be able to provide the help you need, I will provide referrals to other clinicians which may be a better fit.

How much does therapy cost?

My current rate is $175/55 minute individual session and $200/55 minutes for a PACT couples session (minimum 2 hours).

I recognize that therapy is an investment. Let’s create a plan together so you work on what is most important to you in a time period that fits your budget.

Do you take insurance?

I don’t accept insurance, but I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year.

You can sign up using this link.

Note: Mentaya’s goal is to save you time and money. It’s completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

What if I need to cancel?

I understand life happens and appreciate that some disruptions cannot be avoided. If you cannot make an appointment, you may cancel or reschedule as long as you provide 24 hours notice. Missed appointments and any cancellations within 24 hours will be charged the full amount of that appointment.

Payment is due at time of service. I accept all major credit cards, HSAs, and Paypal.

We live in a small town. How do you maintain my privacy?

If we see each other in town, I let you decide whether you would like to interact. I’m always happy to say a quick hello, but the choice is completely up to you!

What happens in the therapy session stays in the therapy session. I value your privacy and will not disclose information about our sessions without a signed Release of Information form.

There are a few exceptions of confidentiality which include:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself/herself/zirself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Where is your office?

My physical offices are in Steamboat Springs and Craig, Colorado. I also work with clients throughout the state of Colorado through virtual telehealth.

My office in Steamboat is located at 401 Lincoln Ave, Suite K. There’s plenty of parking on Lincoln in front of the building or on 4th Street by Table 79.

Enter the Lincoln Avenue Law Office building from the Lincoln Ave door (not 4th street!) and have a seat in our little waiting area – I will be with you as soon as our appointment time starts!

In Craig, my office is located at 538 Breeze Street within the Hope Pregnancy Center building.

What are some things that would help me outside of the session?
